What is eCommerce?
eCommerce (also known as electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services over the internet. eCommerce includes a multitude of data, systems and tools. This also includes mobile shopping and payment encryption. It reflects the complete store owner and shopper experience.
eCommerce has changed the way people shop and consume products and services. More and more people are turning to their computers and smart devices to order goods, which can easily be delivered to their homes.
What is an eCommerce site?
eCommerce sites are digital spaces that facilitate the exchange of goods and funds between a buyer and a seller. This requires maintenance, marketing, policies, IT, accounting, and customer support, just like any other business.
At its core, every eCommerce website is powered by an eCommerce platform or shopping cart software, i.e. Digitrade’s Magento 2 eCommerce platform, stocked with tools and a central hub that helps sellers create great online shopping experiences. The Magento platform provides sellers with a robust, flexible tools and features, integration, and the ability to scale.
What is mobile eCommerce?
Mobile eCommerce is all about online transactions that take place through mobile devices or tablets. Put simply, whenever you conduct a transaction through your smartphone, it is mobile commerce or mobile eCommerce.
There are two types of business models that describe the various transactions that occur within eCommerce:
- Business-to-Customer (B2C): This is the most familiar type of eCommerce. B2C describes a business that sells products and/or services to consumers.
- Business-to-Business (B2B): B2B eCommerce describes online commerce between two businesses. These goods/products are often sold in high volumes. eCommerce allows these high-volume orders to be completed easily, efficiently and securely online.
